Williamsburg Stormwater Pond

RK & Associates was retained by Schlegel Urban Developments to design and oversee the naturalization of a stormwater management pond within a new Kitchener residential subdivision. RKA developed a comprehensive native planting design alongside trail amenities including lookout nodes, site furniture, and interpretive signage — securing City approvals and bringing the vision to life through full contract administration.

A two-year establishment monitoring program tracked the pond's ecological evolution — and the results speak for themselves. What began as a new subdivision amenity has matured into a thriving natural ecosystem, attracting birds, pollinators, and native wildlife while serving as both a functional stormwater asset and a vibrant community greenspace.
